Garden weeding and border upkeep
Keep the plants you want and deal with the growth you do not. Weeding is part of our garden maintenance work, with the beds, boundaries and approach agreed before the visit.

Start by identifying the planted areas
Weeding is selective work. In a mixed border, the aim is to remove unwanted growth while keeping the planting you value. Tell us about bulbs that may not be visible all year, plants you have recently added and self-seeded flowers you deliberately leave in place. Photographs or labels can make the intended result clearer.
PW Gardening Service provides garden maintenance in Lewisham and nearby areas. Weeding, borders and general tidying are part of that work. This page is for customers whose main concern is the beds or unwanted growth, rather than the lawn.
Describe where the growth is appearing
Work in an open planting bed differs from work between paving joints or in a gravelled strip. Roots, planted bulbs and nearby surfaces affect what can be done. Show each type of area in your enquiry instead of using one photograph to stand for the whole garden.
Also explain how long the growth has been there. A recent flush of seedlings and an established patch that repeatedly returns may need different expectations and follow-up. If something has been cut back before but keeps returning, that history is useful.
Agree what happens around existing plants
Point out young plants, supports, irrigation lines and decorative features before work begins. Beds with dense planting may take careful attention even when their overall area is small. A quote based only on the length of the border would miss that detail.
Seasonal cutting back can be discussed alongside weeding, but it should not be treated as permission to cut every shrub or perennial. Tell us which plants you want left intact and raise any uncertainty about flowering or growth before the work is agreed.
A tidy bed is a starting point for upkeep
After a clear-up, choose how the border will be maintained. That might be your own occasional attention between visits, or weeding included in a regular maintenance arrangement. Discuss recurring patches early. We do not promise permanent eradication from a single tidy-up or assume a chemical treatment is part of the work.
If you are considering adding plants or covering bare soil, discuss the existing planting and the result you want first. Planting is included in our maintenance scope, but materials, plant choices and any additional work need agreement; they are not automatically included in a weeding quote.
Weeds in borders, gravel and paving
Explain where the unwanted growth is appearing. In a planted bed, the key instruction is what must be retained; between paving or in gravel, nearby plants and the surface also affect the work. If the same growth has returned after earlier attention, mention where it appears and what has already been tried. That history helps set a sensible scope, but a visit should not be described as permanent eradication or as a treatment programme unless that has been specifically agreed.
What to send with your enquiry
Send a wide view of the bed, closer images of the growth and an explanation of what should remain. Include the postcode, access route and whether you need help once or regularly. Mention any green waste already waiting to go, so it can be distinguished from cuttings produced by this work.
For several routine tasks together, see one-off garden tidying. For dense overgrowth covering the whole garden, see garden clearance. Contact us to agree the right scope for your beds.

Questions about this service
Can weeding be the main job rather than mowing?
Yes. Describe the beds or other areas needing attention. A lawn cut does not have to be part of the enquiry.
Will weeds stay away after one visit?
A single visit cannot guarantee that. New seedlings and regrowth may need follow-up attention. Agree whether the job is a one-off clear-up or part of ongoing maintenance.
What if I do not know which plants are weeds?
Show us what you want to keep and identify anything you are unsure about. Uncertain plants should be discussed before removal rather than treating all unlabelled growth as unwanted.
